Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived on motorcycles and began shooting indiscriminately before abducting an undisclosed number of female congregants. “People were running in all directions. Some fell, others were taken away,” said a local resident who asked not to be named for security reasons.

Emergency responders later confirmed that at least seven people had been killed, though the death toll could rise as more information becomes available. Several others sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby medical facilities.

No group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack. However, suspicion has fallen on armed militant groups operating in the region, including factions linked to Boko Haram and other bandit groups known for targeting rural communities, churches, and schools.
